For this week in my literature circle I was the summarizer which means that I just summarize the book chapters that we read. The settings of this section was at the kids school, Mr. Radley's house, the Finch's street and their house. The most important events that happened in this weeks section was when the kids were going to look in Mr. Radley's house, when Miss Maudie's house caught on fire, when the sick dog got shot by Atticus, and when Mrs. Dubose died.
When the kids were going to look in Mr. Radley's house because after they had gotten chased away from Boo and Jem had to come back for his pants that had caught on his fence and left there, when he got them the pants had been stitched and folded. That was important because it was implying that Mr. Radley wasn't as mean as everybody was saying he was. The importance of when Miss Maudie's house had caught on fire was that the flames almost caught the Finchs' house on fire and a couple other houses. Another importance of the fire is they hadn't noticed a blanket was wrapped around them because when they were to sucked into the fact that a house was on fire and they were cold, Boo had came and put a blanket on them to keep them warm. Atticus had come to shoot the sick dog which was important because it showed Jem and Scout that their dad was active at a point in time, when they didn't think he didn't do anything and they liked the other dads of other kids parents because they were active and played football and etc. with their kids. For a month (and a week) Jem went to read to Mrs. Dubose because he had cut the buds off of her flowers because he had gotten made at her for calling her dad a nigger lover. About a month after he had stopped reading to her she died and I think it hit a soft spot in Jems' heart that he had done something nice for her even though she was super mean.
Those events influenced the characters by finding out that Mr. Radley might not be that bad of a person. The mood is a kind of confusion because it makes me wonder if Boo Radley is a bad or good person. Also, it makes me think that my head is a little cloudy minded because the story is revealing that people can be different than what they are appearing to be.
